Overview
Joint labour-management Safety Committees receive extensive safety training to build their capacity to fulfil their role of keeping the factory workplace safe & healthy.
All employees of the factory participate in information meetings to raise awareness of safety & health.
All workers at Accord-covered factories have access to a confidential Complaints Mechanism with which they can raise safety & health concerns.
The Safety Committee training curriculum comprises mandatory sessions, covering rights and responsibilities under the Accord, hazard identification and controls, resolving safety concerns, and safety monitoring systems. Safety Committee members can also choose additional training modules depending on their training needs, incidents and complaints. A dedicated trainer provides ongoing support for each trained Safety Committee.
All employees of the factory participate in 3 information meetings covering: rights and responsibilities under the Pakistan Accord; safe evacuation in case of fire; hazards, impacts and controls. Workers are introduced to the Safety Committee in the first meeting; Safety Committee members attend all 3 information meetings.
All workers and their representatives of Accord-covered factories have the right to raise safety & health concerns with an independent, impartial and confidential Complaints Mechanism. A team of Complaints Specialists are responsible for investigating and resolving complaints, including where appropriate, ensuring effective remedy.
